Last of K2 Climbers Rescued - [ 2:44 a.m. PST, 06 August 2008 ]
The Pakistani armyon Wednesday rescued the remaining survivor of a mountaineering disaster on K2.

Maj. Farooq Feroz said the survivor, Italian climber Marco Confortola, was picked up by helicopter nearly five days after an avalanche and the ensuing cold weather killed 11 of 30 climbers.

Three South Koreans, two Nepalis, two Pakistanis and mountaineers from France, Ireland, Serbia and Norway were all killed, reports said.

K2 is the second-highest peak in the work, rising about 28,250 above sea level.
